what's a wiki

Page history last edited by Janice 3 yrs ago

THIS IS NOT A STATIC PAGE! It's your space (yes, you!). Add something. Play around in it!

What's a wiki? And what can it be used for?

If you've ever visited Wikipedia, you'll have an idea of what a wiki can do. Here's a link to an article in Wikipedia about what a wiki is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki. You can edit that article to add, correct, or remove information that you think is necessary toward its accuracy. (See the little "Edit" link at the bottom right of the section?) You can do the same here. Click on the "Edit page" button along the topic of this page. You can also create a new page to start a new topic, if you like (and we are encouraging you to do that). Just click on the "New page" button.

Here's a question for you: how could you use a wiki for collaboration in your class? How does it compare to other techniques and tools you have used or might use? Click on the "Edit page" button above or below to add your answer!

Here's an interest column about Wikipedia in the Washington Post: "It's on Wikipedia, So It Must Be True" By Frank Ahrens, Sunday, August 6, 2006
